We have had so many customers come into our store asking for sisal. Sisal is in every decorating magazine, as all designers use it in their decorating portfolios. Everyone of these customers leave our store with a purchase of a seagrass rug or wall to wall seagrass instead of the sisal.
Standard Sisal
Sisal has a beautiful look and it does create a great
"fifth wall" for decorating purposes. It is as strong fiber, but it does not clean up well. Usually you can get most stains out if the sisal, but you are left with a watermark where it has been cleaned. There are some preventative measures you can take with sisal once a new rug has been laid on your floor. You can soak it in any of the spray protection products like Scotchguard, that can be bought at any store. This still will not guarantee that you will not be left with that dreaded watermark. A trick to get out that watermark is to wet down the whole rug. This enables the whole sisal rug to become a watermark, and hides the original one.

. Seagrass in Room Scenes
Seagrass has an excellent neutral color consisting of a light-brown and beige hues (colors) with a green tinge. Colors range from sage hues to olive green, but often seagrass will cure over time and become a neutral shade of warm light brown that will go with any decor. Seagrass is very versatile. Seagrass rugs would be a perfect option for those who prefer durable, attractive, yet inexpensive natural fiber rugs.
Seagrass area rugs are a wonderful choice for any room where the warm hues of the grass will accent furniture beautifully.

and adds warmth to a room
Tip: Instead of air fresheners (most are not healthy to our bodies) sprinkle lavender leaves on carpets before vacuuming. The herbs oils will heat up in the vacuum and circulate in the air, and leave your carpets smelling fresh. I have a favorite place to buy
potpourri, dried herbs and oils. They are also very quick on delivery: Atlantic Spice Company

Most Popular Style of Seagrass
Seagrass rugs are strong and will withstand heavy traffic. Seagrass rugs are stain resistant and dirt is easily brushed loose from them.
Seagrass is collected from a tall plant having grass-like stems that thrive in salt marsh wetlands. Since
Seagrass is raised in the water it takes to water much better than sisal. Most carpet cleaners can be used on it. The wet spot will stay for a while, but as it dry's it slowly disappears.

Basket weave Seagrass
Seagrass area rugs are relatively non-absorbent and hard. Seagrass area rugs have a non-porous surface that gives it a naturally smooth texture and sheen quality. Because it is rigid, it gives it natural durability. Seagrass rugs compliment a low dust & allergy free environment.
Seagrass floor coverings are static free and do not attract dirt and dust particles.

So what's the difference between Seagrass and sisal?..... Spot Cleaning and general cleaning!
Seagrass will last longer esthetically because it is much easier to clean any kind of mess or spill. It also has a mottled variegated look that hides most dirt. |
